Handmande plaster table clock with Parthenon's facade and the goddess Athena

Handmade plaster table clock, decorated with Parthenon's facade and Athena, the goddess of wisdom. An elegant and unique souvenir from Greece!

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. Parthenon is dedicated to Athena, the greek goddess of wisdom, patron and protectress of the city of Athens. The construction of Parthenon began in 447 BC and was complited in 438 BC, although decoration of the building continued until 432 BC. Iktinos and Kallikrates were the architects of the temple. Parthenon is thought to be the symbol of ancient Greece, Athenian democracy and Western civilization.

Athena is an ancient Greek goddess and one of the Olympian deities in classical Greek and Roman religion. She is also known as Athena Parthenos (Athena the Virgin), Pallas Athena and by her roman name, Minerva. According to the Greek Mythology Athena was born from the forehead of her father Zeus. She was associated with wisdom, handicraft and warfare. Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. She is usually portrayed in art wearing a helmet and holding a spear. The owls, the olive trees, the snakes and the Gorgoneion are Athena’s most prominent symbols.
The Parthenon on the Athenian Acropolis is dedicated to her, along with numerous other temples and monuments.

The clock is powered by one AA battery.
